Search Engines love Social media

There’s a revolution going on that’s changing the face of trading as we know it. Its name is Social Media. All around the world, consumers are losing the plot, hanging up their phones in aversion. Cold calling and traditional sales methods no longer work. Urbane enterprises have already realised that there is a new, more powerful scheme of selling and enhancing customer engagement, in the shape of social media.

As a SEO Company we’ve seen exponential growth in social media – some businesses have jumped in, others are testing the waters and the rest have disregarded it completely.

Right now decisions are driven by marketing professionals to create a “Social Media Friendly Culture” that leverages powerful social media networks and tools. And this is done with good reason. Not only does it provide businesses with a highly effective word of mouth crusade from the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. but it also keeps your message moving, thus creating brand exposure, and in turn this generates leads which equal higher sales. Besides all that, it increases traffic to your site, but most of all, and this should be the most contributing factor, search engines just love social media!

But why?

With effective SEO, content becomes more attractive, pertinent and visible to search engines and internet users. The goal is for content to come up as results for terms that potential customers would search for.

Your presence on Social media platforms will determine how well your business and or personal profile appears in social media search results.

But what’s that you are saying? Social media marketing and search engine optimisation is like chalk and cheese? You are right, I like to think of SEO as leading you to the water and social media makes you drink because your "friends” are not only drinking, they are telling you how magnificent the water is (or not).

As you utilise social activity, you entice visitors to visit your website, and sequentially expect your website to increase in search rankings if you are successful. But the real magic lies with the +1’s, thumbs ups, likes, retweets, fans, sharing, circles, digs, PinIt’s and so on and so on. This is the major factor in search engines. They determine how well your pages rank in the search engine results pages (SERPs).

So it’s safe to assume that pleasing search engines with +1’s and likes, in this day and age, is of the utmost importance. Kind of like a thrive or die situation. In a nutshell, businesses that find their way to the front page of search engines have a larger audience than those on pages with a sad 2+.
